HPTB summer picnic

This Saturday Daniel's firm hosted a picnic at Sarratoga Springs park.

Sam and Liv loved the jumper. The little girl in the blue striped shirt is Amber. She is Brian Hickman's daughter. Olivia loved playing with her.

Chloë has developed a new skill of scowling at people and she has perfected it! After someone looks at her she puts on the face below and turns into a statue. If it is a man she is scowling at, she will stand there for 10 or more minutes.

Father's Day

Today is Dad's day . We had the Miners and Todd and Nathan Adams over for dinner.

Daniel got a new grill! Although I think I will be using it more than he will.

I had to add this picture of Sam!

LQ with the Firm

Every summer Daniel's firm takes the summer associates on outings. The first of this summer's fun was Laser Quest. While Daniel played (getting first place) the kids played on the video games. Chloë loved watching the Dance Revolution lights.

Olivia graduates!

Today was the first of many happy graduation ceremonies for the Ledesmas.
Olivia had a wonderful year at St. Timothy's preschool.

Notice how she is sitting with most of the boys!
She loves to play with trains and not with princess things.

You did it girl!

"Here is my dipolma! I did it!"

This is her friend Miles.

Here is Olivia with her teachers.

Elder's Quorum BBQ

After Olivia tried to help Chloë into the pool, this was close enough for Chloë.

Isn't she a bathing beauty!

Sambo was a little more shy than usual, so he did not want to swim much either. Which was fine with me. Pools make me SO nervous.

Olivia on the other hand was a little fish. She was very brave at jumping into the pool and swimming across the big jacuzi to Daniel. She has my Arizona blood!

It was a great BBQ. Daniel was in charge of the food and he did a great job!
The only thing left for our busy week was Daniel teaching on Sunday.

Daddy Daughter Campout

One of Daniel's best friends (Casey below) from BYU computer science program moved with his family to Livermore, about 45 minutes from here. We are so glad they are around.

Once a year Casey's ward has a daddy daughter camp out. Olivia loves it!! Casey and Talia have a daughter about 10 months younger than Olivia, Zion. Zion and Olivia are great friends.

Daniel said the highlight of the camp out was the tent.

Here are two of my sleeping angels.

Our last day to play

Olivia loves wearing matching dresses with Chloë.
So here are my two girls matching.
Chloë is giving her big sissy a kiss!

This is my sun hat that my friends laugh at. And yes, I know I look like a pirate. But I am safe from the sun, and so is anyone around me. If only I could see or hear you!

Before we left Sea World Grandma Ann treated us to funnel cakes!!!
They were so good.

Sunday walk to the pier

We enjoyed a great morning at church. Both Sam and Liv went to their classes without a fuss. When church was over Olivia walked to the car and with no promptings and much satisfaction said "I wasn't even shy!" I am very proud of her.

Chloë was having a hard time walking on the pier. She just started walking a few weeks ago. The pier was uneven and you could see the water moving down below which threw her off a little.

Sam was also very interested in the hole Chloë had her hand in. He liked looking down it.

Mother and Son what a great day.

My babies Names

As we are thinking of our 4th and last baby's name, I thought I would share how I/we came up with our other children's names. (thanks Kaylene:))
All my life I wanted to name my first girl Michael, but Daniel didn't like agree. So I had to come up with something else. I was laying in bed one night about 3 months pregnant and thought Liv was a cute nickname. No I am not a groupee of Liv Tyler. So Olivia came to me. I really loved it. Daniel thought is was alright. Most people I told did not like it, until I actually named my baby Olivia. Then they loved the name! It turns out, nation wide it was the 5th most popular name for 2003. Oddly, we have not met any other Olivia her age. Of course, her middle name would be Michael.
Boy names were really hard for us. They need to be strong and stable sounding. . .you know something that would look good on the side of a building. 'Samuel Ledemsa & Associates'. Daniel really liked the name Ammon. I want my child to be known for who he is, not that he was named after a Book of Mormon hero. It is the same idea as Jonah, a name I like, but one would think of being eaten by a big fish. So Ammon and Jonah were out. I can't exactly remember, but I guess we liked names like William, Charles and Thomas, but Samuel was what we chose. His middle name is Lloyd, my mom's dad's name and Daniel's mom's mom's brother.
Chloë was the hardest to name. I did not really love anything like I loved Olivia's name, so I told Daniel to decide. I guess he did not believe me b/c we left the hospital naming her Elouise Edelman. I did not want to name my boy Louis after Daniel's dad b/c most of Daniel's siblings with a boy had done that. I wanted to name my girl some form of Louis and call her Loula. (That is what Lou called himself sometimes-and I liked that.) Edelman was my dad's mom's maiden name. My dad always spoke so highly of his mother. I think she must have been an angel and a saint to guide and love my dad through his crazy childhood. Elouise Edelman did not stick. At her one week check up the nurses could not even pronounce her name "E-low-iz???" Plus her initials would have been EEL. I couldn't call her Elouise, it just wasn't her. So then Daniel rushed to the hospital to change her name to Amelia Zoe. My dad's side of the family has a Parmelia, then a Pamelia, so we thought Amelia would fit the trend. Zoe was a take on the mom's mom's mom, Azola. But instead of calling her Zoe I started calling her Chloë. I told Daniel this after a few weeks. He had always liked the name Chloë so we decided to do all the paperwork and go to court to change her name to Chloë Elizabeth Michael. Elizabeth is Daniel's only sister's name and I would like all my girls to carry my middle name (and dad's name) Michael. It was a big headache and a few too many pennies to change her name, but I am glad we did it. She is such a Chloë!
If this last baby would have been a boy here are some names I like. Xander (Alexander), Graydon, Nolan or Jackson, not so traditional, but hey not too made up, right??
But this is a girl, so we are back to the drawing board. We are pretty set on the name Charlotte, which is what I tell people her name is, but I am always thinking of something better. Olivia likes the name Phoebe, but I finally broke it to her we would not be using that name. I still am drawn to the idea of some form of Louis, but have not found the right name. This week some names I like: Michael Jayden (MJ), Ruby, Savannah, Naomi, Gwyneth, Joise-but not Josephine. Daniel really likes the name Audrey, but I like Aubrey. So the list goes on and on!

Beach time and Sea World

We went to the beach for a few hours in the morning. Daniel took the kids on a short walk to watch some big trucks move seaweed off the shore. On the way back Sambo was scared by a wave and stayed far away from the water the rest of the morning.

Chloe liked the sand once she was use to it.

It was a peaceful morning. The sun did come out, but it was breezy.

Sam and Liv wanted to feed the Sea Lions.

The sea lions were very loud!

Today we spent more time observing the animals than usual. We watched the sea otters, flamingos, and a long time was spent watching and touching the bat rays.

Memorial break to San Diego

We decided to take a week vacation and spend some time in San Diego where we met Daniel's mom, Ann. I was very lucky to have her come visit and help me with the kids while Daniel put some hours in for work. The afternoon after we arrived we picked up Ann at the airport, of course we headed straight for Sea World. Sam and Olivia were so excited to see Grandma Ann and Shamu!

I love friends

On Friday I went to my doctors appointment and learned that the bites were giving me hives. The dermatologiest prescribed me two pills and an ointment. I really liked him. I am going to take Sambo to see him next month at my follow-up visit. I am hoping he can help solve Sambo's skin problem.
I called a friend who does pest control and told him of our situation. After answering a bunch of his questions, he determined the following. We had mice, they had parasites, Exterminator Dan got rid of the mice, the parasites wanted someone to feed off of, so they found us. It does make perfect sense to us. Daniel and I have never seen any bugs, so we were not sure what was bitting us. Our friend said he was come spray the garage and the entire outside of the house. I hope that does the trick!
After my doctor appointment (during my apt. Mandy and Kelli watched my kids! - thanks friends) we (Kaylene and Kelli) went to Kelli's house and to make fried egg rolls, won tons and fried rice. Kelli's house was cool and I was so distracted with cooking that my bites did not bother me as much.
Saturday night Daniel and I invited Candice, Jen, Kaylene, Kelli, and Mandy and their husbands and all their kids over to play. We had a babysitter come and they were banished to the back part of the house. Then we adults ate and ate and played games. We had such a nice time. I am so glad we had everyone over. Even if the kids went to be bed late!

I'm moving

This has been a bad week for sleeping! Let's just say it how it really is. The weather has been very hot. 90 may not seem hot to all Arizona natives, but that is hot when you have no air conditioning, you are pregnant and cover in bug bites that get inflamed when you get hot. More importantly, because of the hot weather the kids have not been sleeping so well, which means either Daniel or I did not sleep well. Normally that would not be a problem, but with all these bug bites, I can't fall back asleep once wakened! Consequently, I have been awake since 4am and yesterday night was not much better! I am going to a dermatologist this afternoon to find out what kind of bites these are. Then we are having pest control come out to spray the house. In the mean time we are moving to my sister's house to sleep for the weekend(well-I have to ask her first :) ).

"Peanuts. . .Popcorn. . .CrackerJacks"

Daniel joined a baseball team with some friends from church, so we got to go watch him play his first game this afternoon. The league plays at Foothill Community College, which is where Daniel and I met! It was fun to go back with 3.6667 kids. The kids enjoyed playing with their friend Seth, and I enjoyed watching Daniel and talking to some friends.

We meant to bring dinner, but it got left in the kitchen. Daniel had a major spill tripping over his own feet while trying to catch a fly ball. But if anyone knows Daniel, he HAD to redeem himself. So the next time he was at bat he swung for the stars!! It was the only home run of the game and it was great!
